The U.S. Census Bureau has released the 2023 Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS), which offer data on business activity such as job creation and loss, establishment openings and closures, and firm startups and shutdowns. The BDS is an annual series that covers the period from 1978 to 2023.

The data are accessible through the BDS website, the Census API, and BDS Explorer. The explorer tool enables users to view the full dataset using various charts and maps. Its dashboard allows for the construction of tables and charts to compare different measures of business dynamics.

For additional information, users can visit both the BDS main page and BDS Explorer.
