Northside Hospital has received national recognition from the American Heart Association (AHA) for its efforts in delivering evidence-based care. All five Northside hospitals were honored with multiple 2025 Get With The Guidelines achievement awards for their work in treating heart disease, stroke, and other serious conditions through research-based protocols. Each hospital also earned the new Commitment to Quality Award, which is given to organizations that demonstrate high performance across three or more Get With The Guidelines programs.

“Receiving the AHA Get With The Guidelines award is a reflection of our team’s commitment to providing the highest quality heart care,” said Erin Phillips, director of Northside Hospital Heart Institute. “For our patients, it means evidence-based treatment that leads to better outcomes.”

Northside Hospital Atlanta was recognized with several awards, including the Commitment to Quality Award, Stroke Gold Plus status, and distinctions in heart failure and resuscitation care. Northside Hospital Cherokee and Northside Hospital Forsyth both received similar honors for their achievements in stroke, heart failure, resuscitation, and coronary artery disease treatment. Northside Hospital Gwinnett was also awarded the Commitment to Quality Award along with recognition for excellence in stroke care and cardiac treatment. Northside Hospital Duluth received a Resuscitation Bronze award.

Get With The Guidelines is an initiative by the American Heart Association aimed at helping hospitals implement up-to-date clinical practices through decision-support tools and real-time data.

“Northside’s achievement shows the impact of a systemwide commitment to quality,” said Donald Lloyd-Jones, past volunteer president of the American Heart Association and current volunteer chair of the association’s Quality Oversight Committee. “By implementing the AHA’s quality improvement protocols, these hospitals are helping ensure better outcomes for patients and communities.”
