Each year, Northside Hospital continues its tradition of lighting Christmas trees on top of its campuses across Atlanta. This event, which began in 1989, uses more than 50,000 lights to honor those affected by cancer. Each light represents a life touched by the disease.

Staff members, families, and community supporters participate in this annual event to remember loved ones and raise awareness during the holiday season. According to Northside Hospital, “Staff, families and community members honor loved ones, raise awareness and share in the joy of the season.”

Supporters can purchase symbolic lights in honor or memory of someone they care about. Donations from this campaign benefit patients through various Northside Hospital Foundation funds such as the Cancer Institute, Heart Institute, Miracle Babies program, and Perinatal Bereavement support.

The hospital encourages people to contribute either through one-time gifts or by starting online fundraisers to involve others. The illuminated trees will remain visible throughout the holiday period.

“Join us in celebrating this tradition as we illuminate the sky with more than 50,000 lights — each carrying a story, a memory and a promise of hope,” said a representative from Northside Hospital.
