Northside Hospital announces lineup of health-focused community events for September

Northside Hospital has announced a series of health and wellness events throughout September, offering community members opportunities to focus on both physical and emotional well-being.

The month’s activities begin on September 3 with Dr. Clayton Fulbright leading a Wellness Wednesdays webinar about women’s midlife health, covering what women can expect in their 40s and 50s. On September 4, men are encouraged to attend a free prostate cancer screening in Alpharetta; appointments are required.

September 8 marks Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day, which Northside will observe in partnership with the Atlanta Braves as they play the Chicago Cubs. The following day, September 9, Northside will offer its Built To Quit Smoking and Tobacco Cessation Course at multiple locations to help participants understand the dangers of tobacco use and provide strategies for quitting.

Fitness is also on the agenda. On September 10, Kelli McLaren, P.T., DPT, SCS, CMTPT will present tips for staying active ahead of the holiday season during a Wellness Wednesdays webinar titled “Fall Into Fitness.”

On September 13, Northside invites residents to participate in the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk in Atlanta. That same day, the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute will host its annual oncology nursing symposium—Fundamentals of Oncology Nursing—at the Westin Buckhead Atlanta.

The hospital foundation will hold its Miracle Babies Golf & Tennis event on September 15 in Johns Creek to support neonatal care efforts.

Two Wellness Wednesdays webinars are scheduled for September 17: Dr. Christina Dennis will address probiotics’ pros and cons while Kelly Jackson, CNP discusses cancer prevention and building healthier futures.

September 20 brings two additional events: Walk ALS Georgia—the state’s largest ALS awareness event—and Walk with a Doc at Mulberry Park in Dacula, where participants can engage with physicians while enjoying nature.

On September 23, Northside cardiologist Dr. Jack Chen and medical oncologist Dr. I-Wen Chang will lead an event about heart health during and after cancer treatment through Cancer Support Community Atlanta; space is limited for this free session.

Dr. Michelle Glasgow is set to discuss gynecologic cancer during another Wellness Wednesdays webinar on September 24. The following day features another free prostate cancer screening from the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute in Lawrenceville; appointments are necessary.

Ongoing offerings include classes ranging from childbirth preparation and breastfeeding to CPR training and grandparenting education—available both online and in person—to help new parents prepare for birth and newborn care. Job seekers interested in joining Northside Hospital can attend several hiring events throughout the month.

October programming includes Tennis Against Breast Cancer (October 3, 10, 17, and 24), Paint Gwinnett Pink (October 19), Atlanta Walk to Remember (October 20), as well as skin cancer screenings in Sandy Springs and Breathe Better Gwinnett sessions in Lawrenceville on October 22.
