Northside Hospital has announced a series of health-focused events and initiatives for December. The activities aim to promote both physical and emotional well-being among community members.

Throughout the month, Northside is running its Lights For Good campaign. Participants can purchase a light on one of the hospital’s Christmas trees in honor or memory of a loved one. Proceeds from this initiative will support patients through several programs, including the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute, Northside Hospital Heart Institute, Miracle Babies, and the Perinatal Bereavement Program.

The hospital’s Wellness Wednesdays webinar series continues with several sessions scheduled for December. On December 3, infectious disease specialist Dr. Avanthi Doppalapudi will present information about antibiotics. On December 10, registered respiratory therapist Jignasa Desai will address chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). On December 17, family medicine physician Dr. Tanja Lindsey will discuss strategies for managing chronic pain.

Cancer Screen Week takes place from December 5 to 9. During this period, Northside encourages individuals to consult their healthcare providers about appropriate cancer screenings.

In addition to these highlighted events, Northside offers ongoing educational opportunities related to childbirth preparation and newborn care. These include in-person classes, eBooks, and online resources covering topics such as breastfeeding, baby essentials, grandparenting, and CPR training.

For those seeking employment in healthcare, Northside is also hosting hiring events throughout the month.

Looking ahead to January, the hospital will begin new Built To Quit tobacco and smoking cessation classes starting January 27.
