IAM Local 1746, in partnership with the IAM Union Eastern Territory, has worked with East Hartford Public School for five consecutive years to support a backpack rally event. Volunteers from both groups gathered donations and helped pack backpacks. They also participated as vendors during the distribution day.

During the event, volunteers distributed thousands of items such as pencils, pens, rulers, activity books, stickers, and other supplies branded with the IAM union logo to students in East Hartford.

The effort aims to provide necessary school materials for local children as they prepare for the academic year.
