IAM leaders engage with organizing and young worker classes at W3 Center

IAM Union General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes and Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen visited the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center (W3) to meet with participants in organizing and young worker leadership classes.

The leaders took part in Organizing I classes offered in both Spanish and English, as well as the Young Workers Leadership Program. Attendees from various regions of North America were present at the center to improve their skills and support efforts to expand the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM).

Dora Cervantes emphasized the significance of providing organizing education in Spanish. She stated that it is important for all members to have access to resources needed for leadership roles. Cervantes’s visit highlighted IAM’s ongoing focus on inclusion, education, and member empowerment throughout the union.

Richie Johnsen also met with organizers and young workers, acknowledging their commitment during a busy time of year. According to participants in the Young Workers program, the visit strengthened their sense of belonging within the labor movement and confirmed their place at decision-making tables.
