More than 3,200 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 837 at Boeing in St. Louis are set to vote on a revised contract offer from the company on Sunday, August 3, starting at 10 a.m. Central Time. If the membership rejects the modified proposal, a strike is scheduled to begin at midnight on Monday, August 4.
The updated contract proposal from Boeing includes several changes compared to previous offers. The company has withdrawn its Alternative Workweek Schedule (AWS) proposal, meaning that current overtime policies will remain unchanged. Employees who have reached maximum pay will receive an added annual $0.50 per hour increase. For pension-eligible members, there will be a full $10 pension multiplier increase in the first year instead of splitting it into two $5 increases over years two and three; however, this benefit applies only to those retiring after January 1, 2026.
Other terms such as proposed wage increases of 20%, a $5,000 ratification bonus, vacation and sick leave policies, and healthcare benefits remain unchanged from earlier proposals.
This latest vote comes after IAM District 837 members overwhelmingly rejected Boeing’s prior offer on July 27.
According to information about the union’s size and scope available at https://www.goiam.org/, IAM represents approximately 600,000 active and retired workers across industries including aerospace, defense, airlines, shipbuilding, railroad, transit, healthcare, automotive sectors in both the United States and Canada.
“IAM Union (International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers) is one of North America’s largest and most diverse industrial trade unions,” states an official description from the organization.
Further updates will depend on the outcome of Sunday’s vote.
