Gwinnett Technical College has reported a total enrollment of 15,689 students for the 2025 academic year, continuing its trend of growth for nine consecutive semesters. This fall semester saw more than 12,300 students enrolled, representing a 12% increase compared to last year. The college expects further growth after the Term C mini-mester in November. In Spring 2025, enrollment increased by 15%.
Dr. D. Glen Cannon, President of Gwinnett Technical College, cited several reasons for this continued growth. These include an influx of transfer students from four-year colleges who are seeking practical skills and affordable education options, high-demand programs that are fully covered by HOPE funding, and the availability of fast-track career pathways supported by internships and apprenticeships. Dr. Cannon also highlighted the role of industry partnerships in aligning academic offerings with job market requirements.
“While we are starting with over 12,000, we anticipate reaching around 12,500 after our mid-semester Term C enrollment is finalized,” said Dr. Cannon. “Our community is increasingly drawn to the affordable, flexible, and experiential learning environment at Gwinnett Tech. We remain committed to delivering programs that meet the evolving needs of our students and local industries.”
The college now provides more than 160 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs. For Spring 2026, it will introduce a Practical Nursing program at its Lawrenceville campus to address regional healthcare workforce needs.
Additional new certificate programs have been launched in Veterinary Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Systems Technology, Business Technology, Advanced Automotive Technology—including Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Service Technician—and Welding. These follow earlier additions in fields such as information technology and healthcare.
Gwinnett Technical College states it remains focused on preparing students with relevant skills and credentials needed for current job opportunities.
