Gwinnett County is organizing a series of community meetings and an open house to collect public input on the restoration of the historic Maguire-Livsey Family Big House. The residence, located in Snellville, was home to the Maguire family in the 19th century and the Livsey family in the 20th century, both considered significant in Gwinnett’s history.
According to county officials, “While the house’s past is complex, the County’s restoration effort aims to honor the legacy of those who lived and labored there by ensuring the project reflects the community’s collective vision.” Residents are invited to share their thoughts and suggestions at these sessions.
The scheduled events include two in-person meetings at Anderson-Livsey Elementary School on October 18 from 10 a.m. to noon and October 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., as well as a virtual meeting on October 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., which requires advance registration. An open house will be held on November 8 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Maguire-Livsey Family Big House grounds.
Gwinnett County schools enrolled a total of 190,044 students during the 2022-23 school year, with enrollment increasing by less than 0.1% compared to the previous year (https://www.gadoe.org/).
