Gwinnett County officials are set to mark the completion of renovations at Rabbit Hill Park’s Field 7 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. The project involved converting a natural turf baseball field into a synthetic turf facility. This upgrade aims to expand opportunities for programs serving youth with disabilities, reduce weather-related closures, and improve safety for users. The new field will also allow local leagues and adaptive sports organizations to host practices, games, and special events.

The renovation was funded by Gwinnett’s Recreation Fund. Chris Minor, Director of the Parks and Recreation Department, will serve as emcee for the event. Speakers will include Gwinnett Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson and District 4 Commissioner Matthew Holtkamp.

The ceremony will take place at Rabbit Hill Park, located at 401 Rabbit Hill Road in Dacula. Parking is available onsite.

Gwinnett County continues to see steady school enrollment numbers, with less than a 0.1% increase in student enrollment during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year (https://www.gadoe.org/). In total, Gwinnett County schools enrolled 190,044 students in that period (https://www.gadoe.org/). White students made up 18% of the county’s student body during this time (https://www.gadoe.org/).
