Gwinnett County Government’s Communications Department has received several national Savvy Awards from the City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA), recognizing its efforts in public outreach, education, and community engagement.
The Savvy Awards are given to cities and counties across the United States for outstanding communications work. Gwinnett County was recognized in multiple categories among large jurisdictions nationwide. The department earned first place for its Glass Recycling – Go Green Communication Program Efforts and for “Upfront Gwinnett: The Hidden Homeless” in the Interview/Talk Show/News Programming category. It also won second place for its Transit Referendum Social Media Campaign and third-place honors for both the 2025 Adopted Budget Video in Education and Training, as well as the Gwinnett Parks and Recreation 2024 NRPA Gold Medal Finalist Video in One-Time Special Programming.
“These awards show that the work we’re doing here in Gwinnett stacks up with the best in the country,” said Joe Sorenson, Gwinnett County’s Communications Director. “Our goal is always simple, help people understand what’s going on, why it matters and how it affects them. It’s nice to see that approach get recognized.”
Judges highlighted Gwinnett County’s innovation, impact on the community, and storytelling ability. They noted that these programs set a high standard for other large cities and counties.
The annual Savvy Awards program is organized by 3CMA, which serves local government communicators across the nation.
