Gwinnett Chamber hosts consular event highlighting Dominican Republic business opportunities

The Gwinnett Chamber and Partnership Gwinnett recently hosted a sold-out session of Global Atlanta’s Consular Conversations: OTP series, focusing on business and investment opportunities in the Dominican Republic. The event, presented by Miller & Martin LLC, attracted over 100 attendees interested in international expansion and foreign investment.

Rosa Yanina Torres Tamares, Consul General of the Dominican Republic in New Orleans, addressed the audience about her country’s role in global trade, tourism, and economic development. She emphasized the strong diplomatic and commercial relationships between the Dominican Republic, Georgia, and the southeastern United States. “The program featured Rosa Yanina Torres Tamares, Consul General of the Dominican Republic in New Orleans, Louisiana. Consul General Torres Tamares delivered an insightful address on the Dominican Republic’s strategic position in global trade, tourism, and economic development, underscoring the nation’s strong diplomatic and commercial ties to Georgia and the southeastern United States.”

A panel discussion followed with Miguel Angel Santana Galva, Vice Consul and Head of Trade & Investment Affairs for the Dominican Consulate. Representatives from both Dominican businesses and local companies in Georgia participated as well. They discussed practical examples involving investment strategies, import/export logistics, and how bilateral partnerships contribute to economic growth. “Following her remarks, attendees engaged in a panel discussion that included Miguel Angel Santana Galva, Vice Consul and Head of Trade & Investment Affairs for the Dominican Consulate, alongside representatives from both Dominican and local Georgia-based companies that are actively doing business in the region. The panel explored real-world examples of investment, import/export logistics, and the value of bilateral partnerships in driving economic growth.”

Attendees also had lunch provided by Latin Fresh to add a cultural element to discussions focused on diplomacy and commerce.

With a history of attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), Gwinnett is seen as a gateway for companies looking to expand internationally.

The Consular Conversations series aligns with Gwinnett’s strategy to strengthen its status as an inclusive hub for international business partnerships.
