The Institute for Biomedical Sciences at Georgia State University has awarded the Yes, I Can Scholarship to five undergraduate students in its Biomedical Science and Enterprise bachelor’s program. Each recipient received a $1,800 scholarship.
The Yes, I Can Scholarship is funded by an anonymous donor and supports students who have shown resilience in overcoming obstacles during their studies. To qualify, applicants must be in good academic standing and submit a 500-word essay describing the challenges they have faced while pursuing their education in biomedical sciences.
The recipients for the 2025-26 academic year are Ana Victoria Cubillo Garcia, Kingsley Iwuji, Proma Kansagra, Oluwatoniloba Adewemimo, and Alexandria Scott.
“While pursuing their education, students may experience hardships that hinder them from achieving their academic and professional goals,” said Cynthia Nau Cornelissen, associate director of the Institute for Biomedical Sciences. “The Yes, I Can Scholarship provides our students with financial support to help them continue their studies and achieve successful careers despite the challenges they may face. We’re proud of the resilience, determination and academic achievements of our students.”
