The state of Georgia has entered into a partnership with InnovateUS to offer training for state employees on the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence (AI). The training will be provided online at no cost to public sector workers.

The program aims to develop practical skills among employees while supporting Georgia’s focus on transparency, accountability, and public trust in the use of new technologies within state government.

According to current guidelines in Georgia, transparency is seen as essential for building trust and supporting accountability. These guidelines also highlight that using AI can lead to greater productivity, less repetitive work, and more efficient research. The guidance requires that all content created by AI must be clearly labeled and checked for accuracy, potential errors known as hallucinations, and bias. The partnership with InnovateUS is intended to help employees apply these standards through hands-on training and safeguards that match Georgia’s policy framework.

Employees will have access to the “Responsible AI for public professionals” course series. This includes courses such as “Using generative AI in government” and “Understanding risks and building resilience.” These courses demonstrate how public professionals can use generative AI in their work while addressing possible risks and strategies for managing them. State employees can find these resources on both the InnovateUS platform and the GTA AI learning hub.

Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) leads technology initiatives for state agencies, working to ensure secure, efficient, and innovative technology use across government operations. More information is available on the Georgia AI website.
