Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Executive Council, along with delegates, met in Savannah, Georgia to address political engagement strategies and union mobilization efforts. The discussions focused on recent government shutdown events and emphasized the significance of increasing voter turnout among union members as the 2026 midterm elections approach.

Later in the week, IAM International President Bryant delivered a keynote address at the Georgia State AFL-CIO convention. The event highlighted ongoing efforts by labor organizations to strengthen their influence in state politics and ensure that workers’ interests are represented.

The meeting comes as unions across Georgia seek to expand their political presence and advocate for labor issues during a period marked by legislative uncertainty and shifting political dynamics.
