Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) has reported its tenth consecutive semester of enrollment growth, with preliminary figures for the spring semester showing 11,737 students enrolled. Nearly 86% of these students are attending full time.
Kimberly Jordan, vice president for enrollment management, noted the significance of this figure. “Typically, more than 60% of a college’s student body attends full time, so we’re especially pleased to see such a high percentage of students fully committed to pursuing their degrees,” said Jordan. “Many of our students are not only taking classes full time but are also balancing work and family responsibilities.”
The college has also seen increases in first-generation students and those eligible for Pell Grants. Growth was recorded in international student enrollment as well as dual enrollment, which allows high school students to take college-level courses. GGC welcomed 667 freshmen for the spring term.
“These trends reflect GGC’s commitment to access, affordability and student success,” Jordan said. “We’re proud to serve a global and growing student population and to support students at every stage of their educational journey, from high school dual enrollment to degree completion.”
Enrollment numbers across the college’s five schools were also highlighted by Jordan. She said that strong numbers in each school show that students are seeking programs aligned with their interests and that GGC is responding to workforce needs while maintaining a broad academic offering.
