Georgia Gwinnett College offers free 10-week fitness program for adults

Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) is launching a free 10-week exercise program through its Department of Exercise Science and Physical Education. The initiative aims to provide both community members and students with practical benefits.

Participants in the program will receive a comprehensive fitness assessment, including measurements of blood pressure, body composition, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, balance, and flexibility. Following this initial evaluation, volunteers will engage in a personalized training plan designed to meet their specific needs.

The sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., running from September 16 through November 20. At the end of the program, participants will undergo another assessment to measure their progress.

Eligibility requirements specify that volunteers must be healthy adults between the ages of 25 and 65 who do not have major health complications and do not currently exercise regularly. Participants should also be able to attend all scheduled sessions.

The college notes that while volunteers benefit from individualized fitness guidance at no cost, GGC’s exercise science students gain valuable hands-on experience working directly with participants in a real-world setting.
