Georgia Gwinnett College observed International Education Week with a series of events focused on global cultures, educational opportunities, and international collaboration. The celebration, held during the week of November 10, included 14 different activities designed to highlight the diverse backgrounds and perspectives present at the college.

One of the highlights was a visit from Lithuania’s Consul General Dovydas Špokauskas. More than 50 participants attended his discussion on diplomacy and international security. The event was organized by Professor Dovilė Budryte from the School of Liberal Arts.

Korean culture was featured in the Seoul Connections event, where attendees sampled Korean snacks, played games, listened to K-Pop music, and learned basic Korean language skills. The program also acknowledged exchange students from Sookmyung Women’s University.

The annual International Thanksgiving brought together faculty, staff, and students for a meal that included both traditional holiday dishes and foods from around the world. During this event, Dr. Kristina Watkins-Mormino received the Excellence in Internationalization Award for her work in promoting global initiatives at Georgia Gwinnett College. Guests also enjoyed live music performed by faculty members, a Cultural Fashion Show, and Thanksgiving trivia.

Throughout the week, information sessions were held about study-abroad programs available in over 20 countries such as Cameroon, France, Germany, and Mexico. These sessions emphasized Georgia Gwinnett College’s efforts to encourage students to experience education internationally.

A World Music and Poetry event took place in the Atrium of B Building. Performances were delivered in French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese to showcase linguistic diversity within the college community.

Faculty also participated in a session about collaborative online international learning—an instructional approach that promotes cross-border engagement among students.

International Education Week is recognized across colleges nationwide as an opportunity to promote cultural exchange and international understanding. At Georgia Gwinnett College, these events are coordinated by the Internationalization office with involvement from faculty, staff, and students.
