Emory Healthcare marked the start of 2026 by welcoming the first babies of the year at four of its hospitals across Georgia.

At Emory Decatur Hospital, a baby girl named Naomi was born exactly at midnight on January 1. Weighing 7 pounds and nearly one ounce, and measuring 19 inches, Naomi is the first child for her mother, Morgan. Her grandmother chose her name. Naomi’s birth came just after her due date of December 31.

Later in the morning, Emory Hospital Warner Robins reported the arrival of Blakely at 2:06 a.m. Blakely weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 18 inches long. She arrived earlier than expected. Her parents, Ashley and Brandon, expressed excitement about adding Blakely to their family, which now includes seven children.

At Emory Johns Creek Hospital, Taylor was born at 3:21 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces and measuring 19.5 inches. His mother Shamease works as a labor and delivery nurse at Emory. Both she and Taylor’s father said they were pleased to begin the new year with their first child.

The last of the early arrivals was Zaylon, born at Emory University Hospital Midtown at 7:36 a.m. He weighed in at 7 pounds, 5.5 ounces and measured 20.5 inches long. Zaylon’s mother Synethia noted that he now shares his birthday with his cousin.

“Happy birthday to all babies born on Jan. 1, 2026, and congratulations to the parents and families of these new bundles of joy,” stated Emory Healthcare.
