Commissioner Watkins to host District 3 town hall focused on millage rate

Commissioner Jasper Watkins III will hold a town hall meeting for District 3 on Monday, August 25, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center Auditorium, located at 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.

The town hall will focus on the county’s recently approved millage rate. Representatives from the Tax Assessor’s Office and the Finance Department are scheduled to attend and answer questions from residents. In addition to discussing property tax rates, Commissioner Watkins plans to provide updates on local parks, crime statistics, community services, land use issues, water resources, and transportation matters.

Residents who cannot be present at the auditorium have the option to watch a live stream of the event on the county’s Facebook page.

Recent data show that enrollment in Gwinnett County schools increased by less than 0.1% during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year (https://www.gadoe.org/). During that same period, total student enrollment reached 190,044 students (https://www.gadoe.org/). White students accounted for 18% of all students enrolled in Gwinnett County schools during this time (https://www.gadoe.org/).
