The U.S. Census Bureau has announced it will hold a prerelease webinar on September 4, 2025, to discuss the upcoming release of the 2024 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates. The ACS is recognized as a key source for detailed statistics about people and housing in the United States, covering topics such as language spoken at home, education, commuting patterns, employment status, mortgage and rent information, income levels, poverty rates, and health insurance coverage. It remains the only provider of local estimates for most of its more than 40 topics.

The one-year ACS statistics are scheduled for public release on September 11, 2025. However, embargo subscribers will have early access to these data beginning September 9 at 10 a.m. ET. This early access applies to all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, congressional districts, metropolitan statistical areas, and other regions with populations of at least 65,000. Embargoed information may not be distributed by wire or distribution services before the official public release date and time. Additional details regarding embargo policies can be found on the Census Bureau’s website.

The prerelease webinar will feature Caleb Hopler from the American Community Survey Office and Jewel Jordan from the Public Information Office. The session will guide attendees on how to access ACS data and resources and offer tips for comparing geographic areas and statistics over time. Media representatives and data users can participate in a Q&A session during and after the presentation.

Registration for embargo access is available at www.census.gov/newsroom/releases/archives/embargoed_releases. Those interested in attending the webinar can register through https://www.census.gov/data/academy/webinars/2025/2024-acs-1-year-estimates-prerelease.html.
