The U.S. Census Bureau has published new data tables from the Annual Survey of State Government Finances, offering a summary of state government finances for fiscal year 2024. The tables present information for each state and include details on revenue sources, expenditures, and debt.

According to the Census Bureau, “These statistics provide a summary of the finances of state governments for fiscal year 2024. Tables include data for each state, along with detailed information on revenue sources, spending and debt.”

Federal, state, and local governments as well as educational and research organizations use this data in comparative studies and to help develop the government component of gross domestic product.

The survey is conducted annually as part of the broader Annual Survey of State and Local Government Finances.
