Library workers at the Baltimore County Public Library, represented by IAM Local 4538, have regained their part-time jobs after a recent dispute. The workers credited their union contract as a key factor in this outcome.
According to IAM Local 4538, the union contract provided protection and a collective voice that enabled members to advocate for themselves. In a statement, representatives said, “It’s protection. It’s a voice. It’s what gave them the power to fight and successfully get their jobs back.”
Union members organized and supported each other throughout the process. They emphasized that their efforts show how collective action can help workers defend their jobs and secure respect in the workplace.
“This victory is a reminder to working people everywhere: when workers stand together, they can defend their livelihoods, protect their futures, and win the dignity and respect they deserve,” according to IAM Local 4538.
